Sacred Art Treasure of the Ardennes
Visible during guided tours organised by the Tourist Office or the City of Art and History department. Open free of charge during the Heritage Days in September.
The Ardennes Sacred Art Treasure, inaugurated in July 2018, brings together around fifty masterpieces from churches in the department, sacred objects that have long been hidden from public view in sacristies or storerooms.
The result of a long process of inventory and selection, the Treasure presents these ancient statues, precious reliquaries, gilded chalices, embroidered chasubles and paintings in a modern museographic space set up in the Basilica of Our Lady of Hope. These exceptional objects provide a panorama of religious art from the 13th to the 19th century in the Ardennes, testifying to the craftsmen's know-how and popular devotion.
